I’m off to see the fam in Kentucky for a week.
Back from visiting my family in Pennsylvania, and then camping with James and his cousins in Oregon (near Cannon Beach if you want to know). Rainy. Also cold. I went swimming anyway and it felt great. I’ve been terribly moody though, and when we came back to James’ dad’s house with two of his cousins [...]
It’s lovely in Vancouver. I had an excellent time in San Francisco as well. We found a lovely hotel to stay in and feasted sumptuously at Millennium and got cheap-ass burritos and all kinds of things. Now all I need to do is negotiate some extra vacation time at the end of this month…

Definitely going to take the train. And James is definitely coming with me. Here’s how it breaks down: Seattle – Chicago leg: “Superliner Roomette” (basically two chairs and a table, folds down into a bunk that takes up the whole room). Includes meals. 45 hours. Chicago – Indianapolis leg: Coach seats (bit bigger than airline [...]

I have five vacation days left that I need to take before the end of the year. One idea I had was to use a few extra days at Christmas (the 27th-29th are freebies since the office is closed) and take the train to my parents’ instead of flying. The train from Seattle to Louisville [...]
