merry christmas eve!

I’m off to see the fam in Kentucky for a week.

finally some alone time

Back from visiting my  family in Pennsylvania, and then camping with James and his cousins in Oregon (near Cannon Beach if you want to know). Rainy. Also cold. I went swimming anyway and it felt great. I’ve been terribly moody though, and when we came back to James’ dad’s house with two of his cousins [...]

summer!

It’s lovely in Vancouver. I had an excellent time in San Francisco as well. We found a lovely hotel to stay in and feasted sumptuously at Millennium and got cheap-ass burritos and all kinds of things. Now all I need to do is negotiate some extra vacation time at the end of this month…

impromptu vacation!

I’m going to San Francisco this weekend with James. How unexpected!

home again

I was in Victoria for a week and a half. Rode my bike there in fact. 73 km, I averaged about 22 km/h. 3:18 riding time, 7 hours total including breaks, waiting for the bike shuttle, waiting for the ferry, and the almost-two-hour sailing time. Not bad. I was at an Environment Justice Camp sponsored [...]

I haven't been doing much

Yesterday it finally felt like summer. Almost 20 degrees on the ride home. Love it. I had a nice ride out to Burnaby & back for a meeting. You know, pretty much all I do anymore (besides work) is ride my bike and try to squeeze some knitting in between. Oh, and physio. Haven’t heard [...]

happy christmas

Had a good train trip. They feed you good food and lots of it, and don’t treat you suspiciously like in airports. You meet lots of people. I liked it so much that from now on if I’ve got the time and the money I’m taking the train instead of flying – and this time [...]

choo choooo!

I am leaving to catch a train to Kentucky now.

Christmas plans II

Definitely going to take the train. And James is definitely coming with me. Here’s how it breaks down: Seattle – Chicago leg: “Superliner Roomette” (basically two chairs and a table, folds down into a bunk that takes up the whole room). Includes meals. 45 hours. Chicago – Indianapolis leg: Coach seats (bit bigger than airline [...]

Christmas plans

I have five vacation days left that I need to take before the end of the year. One idea I had was to use a few extra days at Christmas (the 27th-29th are freebies since the office is closed) and take the train to my parents’ instead of flying. The train from Seattle to Louisville [...]
