Ethiopian night

I made this and this last night. Followed the recipe pretty much exactly, except I didn’t put any tomatoes in the potatoes and I didn’t make any rice or anything. And I used lemon juice instead of lime juice. God only knows what I’m going to do with the rest of that big bag of [...]

full tummy!

James’ cousin had an all-veg thanksgiving dinner tonight since her sister is a new vegetarian, and it was super nice. Lots of really good food and I feel way happier at an event which isn’t centred around a dead bird. Also, James’ friend (and his old roommate… guy lives with James’ dad) is finally really [...]

Famous Foods saves the day!

I was up at the butt-crack of dawn this morning (ON A SATURDAY!?) to get party stuff done, including being at Famous Foods a few minutes before it opened. They have a whole AISLE for freeze-dried vegetables, so now I’ve got my dairy-free soup mix. I love them.

jam

So James’ mom gave me several containers of frozen strawberry products a few weeks ago. The first was labelled “fruit slush” and was intended to be eaten frozen. The second looked the same so I actually didn’t bother to read the label and just ate it. Had a different texture and was a bit sweeter, [...]

feeling pampered

You know, with all my discomfort with whoring myself out to the corporate world, there’s something to be said for special occasion company lunches. Like today. Office manager’s last day since she’s going back to school, and we wanted a little thank-you party. Two and a half hour lunch at a swanky restaurant on the [...]

lunchtime

And I reeeaallly want some Mr. Noodles. Why? No clue. I wanted some yesterday too. I might go to London Drugs because they cost 29 cents there.

the return of the kiwi

Yeah, the one that James was going to throw at a cat. After we decided to resume eating, we took a walk and he brought the kiwi, peel and all, and started eating it like an apple. He took a few bites and then held it out to me. “Would you like some delicious kiwi?” [...]

Lunch

I was intending to get sushi at lunch with James today, but instead I got yakisoba and tempura. And when the soba came, they had tempura on them too! I love the stuff. That’s our usual lunchtime sushi place, but we haven’t been to our other usual sushi place for a while. James and I [...]

hahaaaa

James and I are starting our fast tomorrow. He’s got a kiwi in his fridge. I asked if he was gonna eat it, since he can’t for 10 days after. “No.” “What are you gonna do with it?” “I’ll wait till it gets really fat and then I’ll… throw it at a cat.” “haha what?” [...]

it's a hot one!

James and I are cool now. And by ‘cool’ I mean ‘alright’ because this weather does not qualify as ‘cool’ by any stretch of the imagination, unless your idea of a normal temperature is inside a shipping container in Qatar. To make temperature matters worse, I am making split pea soup because I just felt [...]
