At the grocery store last night James felt nostalgic for a box of his childhood cereal… after a bit of “ugh, that’s so gross!” and “well you just think that because your mom was a cereal nazi!” exchange I said fine, put it in the cart.
This morning I was looking over the receipt (I enter all our receipts into the budget spreadsheet thing) and trying to figure out what “GM GOLDEN GR $9.99″ was. Holy crap, his golden grahams were $10. Since when is a box of cereal worth ten bucks?! No more golden grahams for him.
ETA:
Elaine: ok, did you look at the price tag on your golden grahams!?
James: yah it’s like 10$ i think
James: but that’s what they always are
James: the corn flakes bag is 9$ !!
Elaine: $10 for a box of cereal!
Elaine: no more golden grahams for you!
James: that’s what big boxes cost!
James: all of them!
Elaine: i’m bringing a calculator to calculate unit prices next time.
Elaine: since the grocery stores don’t put it on the labels anymore
James: ok
James: i’ll get you a walker and a grey curly wig too

LOL!
On top of being cheaper, Safeway has unit prices.
