James and I landed the sweetest apartment ever. It’s the main floor and (finished) basement of a nice old house, on a quiet street near Commercial drive (fun neighbourhood, plenty of my friends live there), near a community centre and library.
It has:
- big kitchen
- dishwasher
- living room with pocket doors leading to the
- formal dining room (or that’s what it WAS, we’ll probably use it as an office?)
- bedroom big enough for a queen bed and all our stuff
- little reading nook by the bedroom
- our own washer and dryer
- places for our five bikes
- nice garden in the back with room for us to plant stuff
- sweet porch, south facing across the street from a park
- nice bathtub
- high ceilings
- hardwood floors
- gas stove (I hate electric stoves)
And the landlady is super nice, likes us a lot, takes a keen interest in keeping the place nice. I’m so stoked. It’s for May 1st, but we can’t really give notice till June 1st… so we’ll be paying two rents next month, but totally worth it to secure this place. We put down the deposit and signed the lease today, I can’t wait to move in!
