Today I was telling James about this stupid promotion I saw at Mantique. You can join their “club” for $50 a year and get 10% off your purchases. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the break-even point, so to speak, is $500 (and then it’s not like you broke even, you are still out $500). Anyway, I told James I wasn’t sure I spent $500 on clothes in a year, period, never mind at a single store.
But then I remembered that I actually spent almost $500 on clothes within the past TWO WEEKS. haaaaa. But there’s a good reason and here’s why.
$78 for new yarn to make a sweater. This gets partially filed under clothes and partially under hobby. $78 is not bad for a hand-knit sweater and I’ll probably be able to return two skeins (I hope) bringing it down to $60. I do maybe 2 projects a year of this scope.
$115 for new lingerie. I bought a bra and matching panties. I do this roughly once a year… quality over quantity you see.
and, $280 for a new suit. I have one good suit and one crappy one, both of which I bought two years ago. I’d like a bit more selection in the good suit department. So today I scored a black Armani suit with white pinstripes for $280. It’s wool and in fabulous condition. So I’m pretty well chuffed with that.
But yeah, that is my clothes budget for the rest of the year ![]()
