It just occurred to me that the exchange about switching sides of the bed could totally have occurred on Seinfeld. Between George and Elaine, I think. George is James and Elaine is (naturally) me. It would be theoretical of course, George has never maintained a relationship long enough for the situation to come up, and he was never with Elaine right? But they would argue about it and Jerry would come in and agree with Elaine, and it would go something like this.
Jerry: You can’t switch sides! (doing the spreading hands gesture, and ending on a higher tone)
George: But…
Jerry: Can’t switch sides. (with an air of finality)
