weekend

  • Saturday went to bike building bee. Found an old junky frame, ripped all the crap off it with the intent to build it up again… but couldn’t get the seatpost out no matter WHAT. Vice didn’t help. So that went in the garbage and I’m gonna try again with another one today.
  • Went to St. Michael’s this morning (small Anglican church kitty-corner to the Kingsgate Mall). They’d changed the service time from 10:15 to 9:30 and I didn’t know about it. Barged in sometime after the sermon.
  • Roasted sidewalk chestnuts this morning. 10th Ave is lined with chestnut trees in my neighbourhood and they are hella dangerous. All the cars have little dents in their hoods. Wearing a helmet to walk down the street would be entirely justified during October. Anyway, the other day I saw a guy outside picking them up off the easement and he said they were perfectly roastable. What he didn’t mention is that after roasting, they are perfectly INEDIBLE. They’re awfully bitter.
  • Also cleaned up my little container garden. After the salad greens went to seed some new ones have been growing, so I took the dead ones out. Hopefully these will have time to grow big enough to eat before it frosts.
