Christmas plans II

Definitely going to take the train. And James is definitely coming with me. Here’s how it breaks down:
Seattle - Chicago leg: “Superliner Roomette” (basically two chairs and a table, folds down into a bunk that takes up the whole room). Includes meals. 45 hours.
Chicago - Indianapolis leg: Coach seats [...]

Christmas plans

I have five vacation days left that I need to take before the end of the year. One idea I had was to use a few extra days at Christmas (the 27th-29th are freebies since the office is closed) and take the train to my parents’ instead of flying. The train from Seattle [...]

Got some mail today

From my mom. She sent me:
$3.05 in Canadian Tire money
A bunch of 14 and 17 cent stamps, and one 5 cent and one $2. These are all so old that they’re the licky kind, but the adhesive has worn off. Plus one newer 85 cent stamp.
A little note that says: “Hi Elaine, [...]

only tuesday!?

I left my backpack at the yarn store yesterday after knitting group, and didn’t notice until this morning when I was getting ready for work. I was about to change out of my bike clothes and into work clothes and take the bus when I realized I still had my old backpack in the [...]

Famous Foods saves the day!

I was up at the butt-crack of dawn this morning (ON A SATURDAY!?) to get party stuff done, including being at Famous Foods a few minutes before it opened. They have a whole AISLE for freeze-dried vegetables, so now I’ve got my dairy-free soup mix. I love them.

I’ve planned a surprise birthday party for James tomorrow night. Since he didn’t know about it, he went and planned a little dinner thing at his dad’s house tonight in Langley (45 km away). He also planned to have a little do at his mom’s in White Rock on Sunday (also 45 km away, but [...]

great weekend

Wow, I am so tired after putting 130 km on the bike this weekend. 65 each way up to Pender Harbour and back. But it was a super place, really nice B&B, great weekend, great weather… James and I think we’d like to live somewhere along the Sunshine Coast sometime.
uh… imma go take [...]

Elaine 1, James 0

I felt excellent this morning and was up and about at 6:45. Spent a bit of time reading, tidied my room a bit, ate breakfast, made my lunch… at 8 I went over to James’ house and he answered the door wearing a blanket, because he hadn’t even gotten up yet. And he [...]

Fiona's recuperation

Bike’s all fixed up now. She needed both derailleurs adjusted, plus the right brake lever and left front brake pad, and the front wheel was a bit out of true. He had a good look over it too… few scratches on the aluminum but all superficial and the carbon looks fine. So [...]
