domestic disturbance at the duck pond

James and I ate raw green beans for dinner last night and then went to Jericho Beach around sunset. We sat on a log knitting (well, I was knitting…) until it got too chilly for me and my tank top. Funny since it had been so hot when I got home from work, but I guess getting dark plus being right on the water makes things cold.

Anyway we went back by way of the duck pond and spent like half an hour watching two families. Each had two tiny ducklings, and all four were hyperactive little featherballs, running into cattails and things like that… just generally being the cutest things I’d seen that day. Cuter than a bubble kitten, even. The hens were being all henly and watching the kids and the drakes were quacking at each other to stay away from their respective families. And one drake grabbed the hen from the other family in his beak by her wing, and she was dragging him around quacking like crazy for a minute.

Maybe it’s one of those things where you just had to be there.

It’s 1:32 and I am out of things to do for the day. I’ll have some GPS data to go through in a bit, but nothing else is appearing on the horizon. Ho hum. I’ve been knitting like a fiend lately but I’d feel like a total slacker doing it at work.
