What a bloody balls-up. James and I caught the bus in Langley at 11:05, being the last bus of the night, and got on the skytrain at Surrey Central. I naively assumed that the skytrain would take us to Vancouver like it normally does.
At New Westminster (less than halfway) though, the transit employees come through kicking us out because this is the last stop. Trains evidently don’t go to Vancouver after midnight on Sunday. So we wait outside at the bus loop, one of the signs lists a bus that (eventually) goes right past my house, but after waiting 45 minutes for that, we ended up getting on another bus that took us to somewhere east of the PNE. It’s an improvement – 7 km from my house instead of 17 – but that 7 km is about 60-90 minutes very brisk walking, and it was already 1:15. The bus from THERE wasn’t scheduled to come for another half hour, so we shivered along for a kilometre or so before calling a cab.
NOTE TO SELF – DO NOT TAKE THE LAST BUS INTO VANCOUVER ON A SUNDAY
Anyway, I had my interview this morning and I think it went quite well. Musta been the suit. The job sounds like something I could do, and I think I have what they’re looking for. Plus they seem to have a good attitude around the office – if something needs to be done, do it; if you want to do something but don’t know how, learn… that sort of thing. I’m kind of excited.
