James and I, and his cousin and her friend, went hiking at Garibaldi (map) yesterday. At first we didn't feel like going, the two of them said they wanted to go pretty hard, but we decided to go anyway and ended up waiting for them. ha!
Anyway, it was amazing. The lake is pretty much right next to the glacier. I don't know the sciencey minerally stuff behind this, but the picture in the link above is right on, these two lakes are the colour of a blue freezie. James and Sharon didn't feel like it, but Shawna and I went swimming and for a glacier fed lake, I have to say, it was not as cold as I expected. In fact it was totally invigorating and an incredible feeling to be floating in the middle of bright blue water and staring up at a glacier.
The trail (9 km) is very nice, well maintained, and not too steep or rocky. But, the downhill really does a number on my hip and knee joints, and as a result, James and I were both limping around today, groaning like grandparents.
