So I didn't manage it all the way TO James' house, but I did bike it all the way home. 45 km, took me just over three hours. I was hoping it'd be quicker, especially since it's more or less a level grade, but slightly more downhill, and only one or two fierce uphills. I had a headwind though, makes it way harder and also way scarier, especially going so fast on a downhill. Especially across the Patullo Bridge, there's a sidewalk on one side but there's 18-wheelers and every other fucking thing coming at you, whizzing by two feet away, kicking pebbles and bits of glass up, while the wind wobbles you around like tipsy ten year old.
But, I only had to get out the map once this time, and I learned a few things. Mainly that if I'm going to be road biking and taking stuff with me, I NEED PANNIERS. Backpacks make it way worse.
