Merry Christmas!

So it's been a lovely day with minimal familial arguments Yesterday there was some dispute over me buying an $11.73 hunk of parmesan cheese for my squash casserole (with my mom's money), since I'm not having ham. Since my dad and I are both as stubborn as a herd of donkeys, this ended with me crying in the bathroom. I have this strange thing where I cry anytime anyone yells at me, for any reason. It's very embarrassing. The casserole was good, though…

Anyway. All was well today. I was up till 3 finishing my mom's Christmas present (knitted mancala set). I gave my sister an off-white off-the-shoulder sweater, my brother a Roots CD since he needs to ditch that Ludakris shit and be schooled in proper rap, and my dad a CD by the Oliver Gannon Quartet that I bought at the jazz club James and I went to in Vancouver a couple weeks ago; it had been recorded live there. I gave James a new pair of slippers but the silly dork left the box at home when he went to visit his cousins in Alberta. He and I talked on the phone for a while too… damn I miss him :/ We go to the same school, for two months I lived with his cousins, and now I live 5 min away from school. This adds up to us seeing each other pretty much every day, the longest it's been until now was 3 days. Two more weeks. bleh!

Anyway. I got a shitload of books! My sister gave me the whole set of James Herriot books (5 of them) plus a sweater and a tank top; my parents gave me The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood plus a pair of jeans, my brother gave me Le Petit Prince by Antoine de St-Exupry, and James gave me The New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook and Stitch 'n Bitch. I also got a fleece sweatshirt from my grandparents. I'm mostly happy about the last two though, I'm planning to start cutting down on dairy this next semester and now I have a lovely cookbook. Those hippies were hardcore, there's recipes in here for making your own tofu from scratch. I wish I could have lived on a hippie farm :( Damn my being born too late.

The fam spent the evening playing a game (Take Four, it's kinda like Scrabble) and watching A Christmas Story (best Christmas movie ever).
