ok, last night we didn't go clubbing. instead we went out to the pub instead with jordan and sarah (couple friends). james (the crush) had too much to drink. then we went to white rock and walked along the pier for a while. jordan and sarah started making out so we distanced ourselves to the other end of the pier, and he said kinda out of the blue, “this is really blunt, but… i think it'd be best if we stayed just friends for a while maybe? this is our senior year for both of us and i don't want to get involved too quickly and get distracted, you know how that happens so easily.”
very true. five minutes later i pulled the “i'm freezing cold” trick (well, i WAS actually cold) so he put his arm around me, and we went back home. he switched from arm-around-the-waist to holding hands. aww.
today we went hiking (again, with jordan and sarah… mmm grouse grind, it's like being on the ultimate stairmaster for an hour). and ended up holding hands walking from the gondola to the car. this was a bit awkward considering the conversation we'd had the previous night. he said we need to figure some stuff out… the problem is that he has a ton of fun hanging out but isn't looking for a girlfriend and is concerned about becoming way too involved and attached at the hip so that we don't have any separate lives at all – very easy thing to do of course. i said that's cool.
but i am way too cunning, so later we ended up watching trailer park boys at home, and giggling our asses off, and holding hands on the couch and all that good stuff. when it was over we sat there for a bit, and he said “err… i really wanna know what you think. you should probably know i've never really had a serious relationship before.” i don't mind, i said… and you're right that getting way too stuck on each other is a bad idea, i've done that before and it sucks.” general nodding and agreement. i confessed shyly that i really liked him and had so much fun spending time with him and he said, “me too!”
so. he gave me a hug and kissed me on the cheek and went home. hehe.
