a brilliant new idea

I've got it into my head that two summers from now, I'm going to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. 2160 miles from Maine to Georgia (or vice versa…) Anyone who's done the AT or other long-distance hikes (like, a month or more) got any advice? (Original forum unavailable, sorry)*
